Plainview Jewish Center is proud to announce that we are building a WALKWAY OF MEMORIES! This Walkway of Memories will bring together the past, present and future of Plainview Jewish Center as well as to upgrade, beautify and maintain our building and the grounds surrounding it. This will be an ongoing process and the synagogue will need adequate funds to accomplish this. To begin the beautification process we would like to start this major fund raising program with a “Buy A Brick Program”.

We are counting on members, businesses and supporters of our congregation to purchase a brick(s) and engrave it in a way to honor or memorialize a family, family member or friend. Or, you may wish to celebrate a special event or occasion or only have the name of a business on the brick. We are certain your contribution will significantly add to the excitement and, more importantly, help us raise the funds necessary to continue to enhance the beauty of our synagogue. To kick off the event, the committee will be purchasing several bricks, as an example, my wife, Ceil and I are purchasing bricks, one of which will be in honor of my Presidency and another in memory of her son. Not only will these bricks make the grounds look more beautiful, they will also be a permanent source of pride and inspiration.

The first installation of bricks will replace the walkway in front of and leading to the main entrance of Plainview Jewish Center. The new bricks are decorative and will enhance the entrance. We have set an initial goal of 600 bricks. This is a very modest goal in light of the number of members and local community supporters of PJC. Sections will be done in lots of approximately 50 bricks. Positioning of bricks will be done according to size and on a first come first serve basis, with final decision deferred to the installer. Samples of the bricks will be on display in the main lobby of our temple with order forms and reply envelopes.

The size and cost per brick are on the enclosed PJC order forms. The prices listed are all inclusive of engraving, shipping and installation. 4x8 inch bricks can have up to 3 lines engraved. 8x8 inch bricks can have up to 6 lines engraved. There will also be a link on the PJC website that will allow you to order on line. The website will also be able to provide you with additional information. With the help of our fellow congregants and community supporters, it is our goal to repave the walkway with as many sections as possible. Orders received by June 15 are currently planned for installation in time for the High Holidays. Orders received after June 15 will be processed for installation in brick sections of 50 as a section is filled. This will be an on going process.

Please help us in raising money to upgrade, beautify and maintain our building and grounds surrounding it. We will be selling two sizes – 4”x8” at $154 and 8”x8” at $250.
