Cantor Wolk holds a commission as "Cantor-Hazzan-Minister" from the Cantors' Assembly, the international organization of cantors serving Conservative congregations. In 1992, he was designated an Honorary Fellow of the Cantors Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He is also a member of the Cantorial Council of America and the American Society for Jewish Music.
At the Plainview Jewish Center, Cantor Wolk's responsibilities include officiating at religious services and life cycle events, instructing children for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, teaching music in the religious school, and teaching cantillation skills to adults and teenagers. He has offered courses in Jewish music appreciation and haftara chanting at the Adult Education Institute, and he assists the rabbi at pastoral tasks. Jewish Music Season is observed annually at the Plainview Jewish Center at a special Friday evening service conducted by Cantor Wolk and the synagogue choir, at which he has the opportunity to address the congregation on a topic of musical interest.
Under Cantor Wolk's leadership, the Plainview Jewish Center was twice awarded the Solomon Schechter Award for the excellence of its music program by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
He and his wife, Gerri, were honored by their congregation on the occasion of their tenth and twentieth years of service, and in 1980, by the UJA-Federation for their efforts in furthering support for Jewish philanthropy and ideals.
Cantor Wolk has frequently collaborated with other cantors in presenting concerts at congregations throughout the metropolitan area. He has been a guest soloist with the choruses of local high schools in the performance of Jewish music and with the Long Island Jewish Choral Society. He has also sung leading baritone roles with the Amato Opera Company of New York.
Cantor Morris Wolk and his wife, Gerri, a Certified Public Accountant, have two sons, Michael and Ethan, who attend, respectively, the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County and the Solomon
